Knock, Knock... Who's there?

Featured Replies

There is something wrong with my ickle furbster.

When I go along a bumpy road, the is a mechanical knocking sound from the back of the car.

Took stuff out of the boot to see if that was the cause, but it wasn't.

Going in for a 40,000 mile serive on Tuesday, so hoping to tell them what I think is up with it.

Any ideas?

Mine does this too. Puzzling...But not very loud

:o I thought you were going to treat us to a joke there :P

Have yours had anything done to the suspension.

It has only just started. Does not sound like anything is broken on it, just two bits of metal coming into contact.

Only on the bumpy-bumpy pot holed lanes of Devon

Knock Knock,

Who's there?

The Doctor

Doctor Who

Best I can come up with at the moment, sorry. :o

Grab the exhaust tailpipe (when it is cool!) and give it a waggle. It could be the exhaust knocking against the bodywork where it loops over the back axle. If so I guess the fix would be a new rubber link.

Hmm, did not think of the exhaust.

I will do shortly, for me to hear it in the cabin, I am not sure if it could be the exhaust because it is quite loud and the exhaust is quite far away.

have you got a rear ARB fitted EE ?

there may be a loose clamp or mounting bolt

hi there -

you say you`ve taken every thing out of the boot - what about the spare wheel , is it tightened down properly - inside the wheel is a plastic box with a jack and some tools for changing the spare - my wrench and socket bangs around sometimes - just an idea -

hope you find it -

Thanks for the suggestions, it seems to be doing it when I turn a sharp corner quite slowly (as in pulling out of a junction)

Tried wiggling the exahust, but I just got a black hand.

I had a poke around the spare, but I could not even work out how to get it out of the boot.

Hopefully the service will sort it.

sharp turn?? might be the rear suspension bushes getting saggy
