flashing lights

Featured Replies

2001 16v fabia for a little while now the headlights and all other lights are flickering all the time. sometimes the power steering gets heavier for a short while and is then ok. no warning lamps ever come on. Its still on the original battery but starts fine. the lights only flicker when the engine is running.could this be the power steering sensor or is it more serious(expensive) thanks

i would get the battery and charging system checked out as there sounds like there is a problem in that area

Could possibly be your Battery is starting to wear out & will soon need replacing (early warning).

The power steering is done by an electronic Pump on the Fabia, so normally the lights flicker and dim mostly when on either full lock on the steering, the Pump uses a serious amount of power, so causing strain on the battery & alternator.

This is of course the worse time for Batterys, your driving with heated windows on, Headlights on,Blower fan, plus the cold weather doesn't do it any favors!

My Fabia (1.9 TDI) is only 3 months old, but it's headlights dim and flicker like a discos dance floor when im reversing slowly into my Garage (from one lock to another), it never quite stalls but you know its working hard to keep charging the battery. :thumbdwn:

I put my car on charge a few weeks ago with my 6 amp charger, and it took 17 hours for it to charge fully before the charger lit the o.k light!

many thanks ktea88 i will order one now

  • 4 months later...

From what i have read on this site it is only the fabias with the esp that have the angle yaw sensor the fabias without esp just have the angle sensor fitted, i belive these are two different types of sensors.

It will be your sensor I am having exactly the same problem.

Does your power steering mainly cut out when you have just started up from cold in the morning?

I have had the headlights flash a couple of times after I have been driving a mile or so and am stood at traffic lights. It also seems to flicker just after I have had the steering warning light come on but that soon turns its self off.

My garage checked the power steering, pump etc and couldn't find anything wrong.

With the advise that I got on here I told them to check the sensor and they are booking it in with the local dealership this week so hopefully I should have a deff answer for you.

Typical everytime it has gone into the garage the heavy steering hasn't kicked in for them and the warning light hasn't come on.
