Stealth shelf installed

Featured Replies

It arrived this morning, so I fitted the speakers and fitted it into the car. I must say that the quality is excellent and the fit is spot-on!

And......much as it may perturb a few audiophile types on Briskoda, it actually sounds ok!!

Rear speakers are Infinity Kappa 693.7i, powered by a Boss Audio 380W (max) per channel amp......running @ 2 ohms. Front speakers are standard for now.

As for 6x9's being ****.....they sound waaay better than the front speakers, and fitting a rear shelf and speakers is a lot less hassle than the door speakers.

Very nice shelf but please, please tidy up your wiring. ;) Makes it look a bit MFI.

What do you mean BTW: The amps on 2ohm? 4 ohm would be more usual for a stereo pair of 6x9s.

Cool ! Can't wait for my shelf to arrive... however, I will need to order an amp, don't want to blow up the HU !

The Infinity's are 2 Ohm speakers.

As for the wiring....point taken......I am hoping to get some plastic cable "tray" kinda stuff today.........I'm just impatient and wanted the shelf in as soon as I got it. :)

Have you just taped the cheap grey cr*p cable you get with the speaker to some other stuff?

If you want it to sound it's best pull through some reasonable quality, OFC cable rather than the bell wire.

Yes.....temporary fit......grey "normal" speaker wire but it's not taped...they are crimp terminals.

However.........The benefit of decent OFC cable is questionable because the run from the amp to the speaker is about a metre...... AND.....the cable pre-wired into the Infinity crossovers (which I have to connect to) is bog standard speaker wire (red & black in the pic)
