VW Polo G40

Featured Replies

In the early to mid 90's VW made a Polo with a G40 supercharger.

Now these are as rare rocking horse manure I have only seen two. And the last one I seen was in the 90's and it had a race with a Escort XR3i and from what I could see from the distance it well and truly thrashed the Ford.

Does anyone own one or has had one previously? If so could you tell me what they were like?

Comfortable, fast (I know this). economical?

Or if you have any piccies you want to show then I'd be grateful

A guy on here has one... Dave something or other.

LOL,

I have a GT converted G40 with completely original spec parts fitted and some modifications...

To list them all i'd be here a week so ill dig out a link to my spec soon...

To say the least about these cars - i have never had so much fun - it makes me smile everytime i drive it - it's rawness and character, rattles and squeaks are all compensated when you are put back hard in your seat when letting the g-lader supercharger stretch its legs...

Heres some recent pics:

Basically my sexy wheels are off for the winter - but any more info you would like either pm me or post here...

In std form VRs's are easily wipped but the tuned 1.8 20VT's on here would give me a run for my money - however its not about what you can beat - its about what you want from a car!

For all you G40 related needs use Club Polo Forum - theres normally one or 2 for sale - as out of about 500 made in RHD form - around 300 odd are left...

That isn't including conversions like mine - however if you want an original one and not modify it - then they are worth keeping standard as they reach near or over 2K in that state...
