I just bought a second hand 2001 y reg. Octy 1.8t 20v elegance . 59k, full main dealer history, very good condition for 3300 pounds.

I hope it wasn't overpriced.

The car runs great but i don't want to test it's real capacities until i'll have it serviced.

As the timing belt has never been replaced I will definitly need to do so asap.

Can somebody please recommend me some trustworthy garage or mechanic in wider reading area to do this job and some regular service for my car. I am looking for some trustworthy tuner as well to perform software remap for me.

Are there any other usual parts in need of replacement in addition to cam belt kit and water pump at 60k?

what part supplier would you recommend ?

what brand would you recommend for air filter replacement k&n or something else?

what oil would you recommend me taking in account that the car will be remapped?

i was thinking of motul 8100 x-cess 5w40 or mobil 1 0w40?

does anybody have some personal experience with some garages/ mechanics in reading / berkshire area?

i found a lot of them on the web, but i would like to hear some personal experience.

i am generaly looking for some experienced mechanic with not to high labor charge.

btw, what parts supplier can you recommend for good quality and low prices?

My personal experiences have mainly been with Garlands in Aldershot who are ok to deal with and also where I bought my car or JKM in Portsmouth who are excellent but a little too far maybe.

Worth the trip in my opinion or at least a phone call.

I use Grantleys in west Ham Ind. Est. near the fire station in Basingtoke. May try SJB autotech Basingstoke 01256478250 on my next service, see how they compare.

I used a K&N induction kit on mine, and used Angel for a remap. On those fronts all seems well.
