06 vRS EGR Skoda Mod Fuel Consumption?

Featured Replies

I have an 06 vRS with the hesitation phenomenon. I have not yet gone to a dealer about this. The car is great.

I am very happy with my fuel consumption. I was wondering whether anyone who has had the Skoda mod to the EGR has a seen a change in their fuel consumption .

Thanks in anticipation of getting feedback

I've had the EGR valve done recently for the stutter on my 2006 vRS............MPG still averages out between 59 and 62 to the gallon:thumbup: . Which is the same now as it was when I got it in July 06..............in that time i've done 23,000 miles:eek:

Is that the figure given by the computer or have you calculated it manually as my 06 fabia records similar figures but actually gives between 45 and 50 mpg.

From the dash computer, just worked it out manually and the very worst case scenario is 56 mpg. It's all motorway driving though..........:)

Do you sit at 60mph on the motorway? I do mostly motorway driving and all I can muster is about 47mpg on average using the brim method.

The computer says it's about 50.

Does the 06 PD fail it's MOT if you completely disable the EGR using VAG-COM?

I don't think any Fabia can have EGR totally disabled with Vag-Com. When I tried turning mine down as low as I could get it, I got a bit more smoke and much worse mpg, so I put it back up again.

No I don't sit at 60mph, I just have an efficient driving style! change gears at the right time etc etc, most of my journeys tend to be circa 400-500 mile round trips......... I have cut back on my driving, but used to average 50,000 to 57,000 a year.........

Holy moly! That's a lot of miles....

Yes, in which case big round trips will result in excellent mpg. My 60 mile round trips only get me about 46mpg. I've managed 50 once but the weather was nice and warm....freakishly so for February.

Are you sure you can't completely disable the EGR? It may result in more smoke etc but I'm sure someone's managed it. Hmm...
