Creaking Front Suspension?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've a bit of a problem with my Fabia at the mo , the front suspension is making a load creak every time the nose dips when you brake , and again once the nose lifts back up again when you come to a stop. It aslo makes the noise when you pull away (the nose lifts up when you pull away in a FWD car) and also when going over speedbumps and the ramp into my garage. It was the passenger side only for a few months , now the drivers side is starting to do it also!! Now ive had the wheels on full lock and given them a good shake and there is no noise , however , when i do the shock absorber bump test it does occur then , so do I have worn shock absorbers , or another unrelated problem? There are no leaks visible on the shocks , and there is no vibration coming thru the pedals or steering at any speed , apart from the noise , the car is perfect to drive! Any ideas?? Its due a service next week , and I'd like to know what to tell the srvice reception to look for!

Cheers!

The creak is probably the control arm bushes... my car did exacly what you describe, control arm bushes were split, I replaced them and all is well again... :)

Just had my control arm bushes changed as well, same symptoms. The Skoda Garage I went to said it was the ARB on the way out. Took it to an independant they showed me on the ramp that the ARB was new and it was these bushes were knackered. Never going back to that garage again.

How much was the fix? Cheers for the info BTW!

I bought my Fabia VRS (2004, 48k miles) from a dealer at the end of december and the suspension is making a really bad creaking noise. Telfords Skoda are terrible at returning calls, my g/f took it in, waited around and said they would call me on friday afternoon to tell me what was wrong, they never did. Half the time I've called them, they have never returned my calls, I have a years warrenty from when I got the car and they said to my g/f that they would price the job up. Surely this should of been spotted before the car was sold to me? (I've added less then 3k miles since getting it)

Just to add that if they do want to charge me I shall be writing a letter to Skoda UK regarding this matter and informing them that we have a lot of their cars on contract at work.

And i'll just get my local garage to put on the bushes rather then pay a dealer for the pleasure.

My dealer looked at mine during its service , I got a vehicle condition report form with 'Front suspension bushes need replaced' written on it (also 'Headlights not switching on to full beam' - the 2 faults I already knew about! , but glad to find my dealer actually can find them , unlike some garages I've read about on here!), I take it they will be the control arm bushes mentioned in this thread? How much will the dealer charge to fix this do you reckon?
