****Fabia vRS Help Please****

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently purchased a Fabia vRS on an 05 plate with 19k on the clock, after selling my Fiesta ST.

Its has a couple of mods lowered 45mm all round,pd160 air intake and it has a remapped ecu which iam not sure what is is but the bloke who I bought the car off was sure it was a revo.

Then drove it back to Stockport from Newport South Wales, what a drive!!:)

I was impressed with straight away far better than the ST.

I have noticed recently that the car intermittently at idle has a slight rumble, I thought it may be happening because the engine is cold but that doesnt seem to be the case as it happens even once the engine is warm. Anyone any ideas?

Next problem........sorry guys.

When accelerating 1st gear fine,2nd fine,3rd fine,4th between 2.5k-3k revs for a split second shoot up 0.5k then go back down, this happens in 5th aswell but there doesnt seem to be a problem in 6th? Any ideas?

Lastly.......promise

Iam wondering why when I open my doors the interior light dosesnt come on. No matter which setting I put the switch on nothing happens when I open the doors and its becoming a pain. I can either have the light on or off, not when I open the doors then go out when the are closed.

If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it greatly

I only have knowledge of the first issue. Mine has done since new, so I doubt it's any major problem.

I noticed that I had a similar thing with the rev count!

although I've not noticed it recently (I thought it was just me...)

Interior light

You do know there's a 3 position sliding switch (next to the passenger maplight button) ?

All the way to the right is the correct setting.

That could be the clutch slipping slightly?

1) wouldn't worry about a slight rumble... worry if the noise changes, or gets worse...

2) The revs rising in the higher gears is probably clutch slip, with a re-map, the torque may be so high, that if you floor it at these revs, the clutch slips for a while.... this doesn't mean it's about to die, just dont floor it at low revs/high gear, drive around it, and assuming you want to "press on" use hier revs/lower gears to floor it ;)

3) as someone else said, there is a three position switch, find the right position, and the interior light will work

enjoy!

I myself have just converted from a Fiesta ST today!

55 plate Silver vRS and first impressions are good. Off the mark its not as quick as the ST but in gear acceleration is much much better, (it feels strange not revving the tits off it!)

I was getting 30-32 mpg in the ST and am hoping for 50-52 in the vRS. Any ideas how accurate the computer is or does it over-estimate?

Only downside is the noise of the derv. I would have liked it to be slightly quieter, especially at idle.

1st gear on the Fabia is useless...only there to get you rolling. 2nd upwards is where it's at.

Average mpg in the Fabia will be about 46/ 47 I reckon depending on your usage type.

The computer is a little optimistic usually guessing about 3mpg too high.

The derv can be quietened slightly by adding a Seat Ibiza PD130 soundproofing kit. Costs about

Well mine at the moment according to the trip computer is doing around 38mpg. It does have remap on it but didnt expect it to be so low.

Dont het me wrong iam well impressed with the car

I'm finding the trip reading massively over optimistic (car is still under 1,000 miles). First two tankfulls gave 41 mpg brim to brim, but trip says 54 :thumbdwn:

Brim to brim, very local mileage i.e. car not getting warm.
