MOT @ 12.30 today

Featured Replies

Had the day off work so thought I'd get my MOT sorted out early (and before any more major mods ;))

Wish me luck. Fitted new tyres this morning so have all legal tread. Just have to hope nothing else crops up.

Have you checked things over yerself, IE:- lights, indicators, horn, handbrake etc.

then if they say summats up you can check it with what you checked.....ya never know.....

Have done what I can. Tyre guy advised me to clean it out inside which I've done - leave rear seat belts done up as I have no backs seats in. Just make the car presentable. I did wipe down a rear strut after he advised that it's possibly shot - I assumed the gunk was just mud, but it looks to have been damper gunk. Might need to get myself new suspension a.s.a.p.... :(

he'll be waiting now......good luck

Hope she passes

:woot: PASSED!

Not without a few advisories though - one serious. Basically he said get both rear dampers changed. One is basically doing nothing and the other is on the way out. Very upsetting to think the FK coilovers are only 2 years old. :rolleys:

Another advisory was for the bushes on the siwngarms which face backwards. The right one had a split in it and th left hand one was "going the same way" - I believe there are cupra bushes available? Info / part numbers please! :D

 & :thumbdwn:

Still a pass is a pass, meaning after all your efforts the car is still worthy of being on the road.

Something you should be proud of.

All my efforts? You mean all my efforts of trying to make it the most un-road worthy Fabia in Britain? This is the first MOT test I have actually sat down and watched, and it was a little shocking to have her bounce off the limiter for 2 seconds or so! :D I wish I'd asked him what RPM the car was reading when it was bouncing.

Well done mate, nothing too drastic either :)

no issues with the de cat?

mine is booked in on monday and am worried that it might fail due to the de cat??:(

As has been said LOADS! ;) of times before

TDIs do not fail MOT emmissions with decats. Only petrols do usually (and even sometimes they can scrape through) I watched him bounce mine off the limiter and it did puff a bit of black smoke but nothing like it does on full load. Passed no worries. :)

Not bad going then really :D

Good stuff & as you were already planning to do some work on the suspension, this sounds like that time :P

Funds for the suspension kind of got diverted into other things, so unless some KW V2 suspension comes up cheap in the For Sale section on here, I'll be sticking with the FKs for the time being. :)

I have MOT now until 30th March 2008, so I'm happy. :D

I'm going bankrupt fuelling this TDI - it is sufficiently fast, but when cruising at some pace the 'even-less-aerodynamic then the Furby brick' shape tends to make the engine work a fair bit harder :o

Mildly chilled this morning, hardly has heating so gloves & warm coat required, hehe :)

Maybe next week for my car, gotta drop off a new tax disc though as the current one has expired now, so gonna pop down tomorrow morning

Thanks - I'll probably try and get all 4 down that way changed while I'm at it. :)
