I wonder how much this would cost to put right?

To be honest they're still a bragain in full working order.

The damage on that one will polish out with some T-Cut.

Jason....

Think you can drop that engine in the furby? :P

my mate's buying one. the nutter!

HTF do you put dents in both rear doors at once!?

My thoughts too

Why is that a Cat D write off?

At a guess, because the damage would cost more than a certain amount to rectify using 2 new doors, new arch panels etc, and the policy required the insurers to write the car off, rather than because it's a "big fix" as such.

Doesn't that make it Cat C "Beyond economic repair" not Cat D "Don't put back on the road"?

EDIT :- Opps, wrong way around, A and B are don't put back on the road. :o

could have been a stolen recovered that turned up after they paid out

No because it works:

A - Crush right away

B - Take parts and crush the rest

C - Can be repaired but must undergoes special test

D - Fine, cosmetic damage, not financially worth repairing etc

F - Fire

Which suggests "worse underneath/inside than the photos look"?

I bet the Phaeton will be cheaper to repair than this:

That is sickening !

Always remember boys and girls, no amount of electronnic bits and 4wd systems will allow you to break the laws of physics!

I wonder what would cost more. To fix the Veyron, or shape back that RS6 that split in half.

Is that a VAG group car... eg a very expensive one?

EDIT: OK already answered, thought it was :(

not neccesarly..

cat D cars are usually ones whos insurance policy have a "brand new replacement" scheme.. theres some proper bargains to be had..

Not strictly true, cat D is purely an economical write off but considered a safe & easy repair & will not require any DVLA inspections. I agree about the bargain bit.

Our Octy was cat D, Insurance paid out 6400, we paid 1600 for the remains & put it back on the road for another 2000 using second hand parts but with all work carried out by a bodyshop. Cream on the cake was that because we completed it quickly the Insurance company put it back on cover for no extra charge until the policy expires this year. Ok a couple of little niggles still to sort like a dead phone kit & the spring on the ashtray broken but otherwise a bit of a result
