Octavia Diesel Auto Gear Selector

Featured Replies

Hi There.

Pleeease help me!!!

Coming back from work tonight I parked for 3 mins. with the engine idling and the car in "N". Shock Horror!!! When I came to select drive, with my foot on the brake, the selector wouldn't budge, BUT when I turned off the ignition it moved up and down as it should.

I started it again in Park, selector wouldn't move. Cleverly, I restarted in N and as the engine fired whipped the selector into D. Success!

What's gone wrong, could it be the foot brake thingy??? that affects the selector, its certainly not the lock out button as that works when the ignition is turned off.

Until now, I've loved this car, it's soo economical and relaxing to drive.

63,000 on an 03, two owners, not a taxi or a rozzmobile,

Any ideas?

Thanks

Nick:(

Welcome. It sounds very much like an issue with the brake sensor to me.
