 only fitted these pads last November , less than 4k miles ago, but i did a track day the day after i fitted them  i think the pads actually went on fire a few times that day :D

anyway brakes felt a little strange going home from work last Thursday , had a little look after i got home , saw the big bit of the friction material sticking out on the N/S/F :( , no spanners at home , i know i'm a mechanic :o , had to drive to work the next day , very gingerly , surprised to find no friction material on the inside pad of the N/S/F , brakes felt OK beforehand , new pads fitted now and discs were OK

hence the living on the edge thread title

Thats doesnt look so good.

I assume that the friction material sheared off the backing plate, on the pads there then?

Bet it made stopping a little interesting!!

yep , thats the friction material , the brakes were ok until last Thursday , i am quite easy on brakes in day to day driving , the last (original) set lasted 38k miles , they did a track day and went to the Ring , but they were changed because they had disintegrated aswell :(

They are worse than the Greenstuffs I used around Coomb last summer, but they were heading the same way. What were these?

i think those were Delphi ones , had to get them urgent as i didn't know that the original pads looked like this , see pic below

just a set of standard ones , i've got the 312s in the shed to put on , before i go to the Ring at the end of May

I thought I might get you 312s as hand-me-downs when you get your Megane 230 F1 RS ST Ford thingy?

See if scoobychris can kill his red-stuff ceramics before you go to the track... if not I know what I'd fit :)

So i take it they would come up as a replace soon item at the next service

i would of changed them on the service i had done 2 weeks earlier , but because the MOT tester ripped the undertray off on the brake rollers , i spent 45 minutes fixing that and couldn't be bothered to do them as it was too late

P.S. it passed the MOT brake test
