Some new form of Ch@v Speak?

Featured Replies

Iv'e just been driving through a town center, quiet, but still a town center. i was doing 30 (The Speed limit) when I was overtaken by 3 lads in a 106:mad:

As you can imagine that made me cross:thumbdwn: , not the fact that they overtook in a town center at about twice the speed limit, but because it was a Pugly 106

So, Rather Cross (Don't flame me for this, I know its not the sensible thing) I drove right up behind him (He had slowed down a fair bit), For some reason the lad looking out the back looked pretty terrified, and they put the hazard lights (WTF!) on and slowed right down.

Now, If I were in a Vauxhall Omega or Volvo T5, I could understand their reaction,

Is this some form of new ways that Ch@v's communicate in, is this some for of high tech in car communication that I have missed out on?

What were you wearing? I've been misaken for an unmarked police car before on numerous occasions because I'm wearing a white shirt and dark tie in a black octavia . . . who is actually driving properly (speed limits, indicating etc. ), i.e, the overall standard of driving is that appalling these days that anyone who actually abides by the highway code (and looks likely) may be suspected of being plod. :)

I was waering a navy blue fleece now you come to mention it,

However they would have to have been thick to think that a little black Getz was an unmarked plod car,

Maybe they were just terrified at the fact that a small automatic hyundai perambulated:D towards them so quickly

We have unmarked black Corsas around here so it's not an impossible thought! The hazards don't make much sense though. They usually pull over at the side of the road if they think I'm plod.

Keep your distance to a steady 3 seconds . . . . that what gets them worried.;)

In London, flashing hazard lights three times is to say thank you to a person behind for letting you out of a side road when turning right (it's the wrong angle to wave a thanks), or if pulling back into line after overtaking and you've let them in.

Don't know where you are or if that might make sense. It might do if they pulled in front of you and you were seemingly approaching rapidly from behind.

I've been mistaken for the law in my Octy when driving on the motorway, especially when trying to save fuel by going at 65mph or so. The number of cars that hesitate for long periods (I'm talking 30 seconds plus) before tentatively accelerating past is very amusing.

I tend to agree with yashicamat about the awful standard of driving that leads most people to think that anyone indicating correctly, observing proper lane discipline etc is an undercover police officer. Keeps me amused on long journeys anyway :D

The illusion of being an undercover officer is shattered when I floor it and accelerate past them to warp speed though

People here like to indicate right at roundabouts then go straight on. Grr.

probably scared you were going to follow them home and give them a slap.

People here seem to think indicating 'full stop' is beneath them.

So too with putting their handbrake on at night when queued anywhere - i.e. stuff the person behind getting blinded. Am always so tempted to go to full beam, then again they'd probably think "Ignorant Sod. What's up with him ?"

:iagree: Yup do this all the time as a thankyou

Reminds me of a funny event.. similar.. ish..

About 8 years ago, me and a friend were driving through Eastbourne in a Fiesta, when three 'ch@vs' (or whatever we called them at the time) hammered down the road in a metro and were driving about 2" from my bumper, I was doing the limit at 30. Its was late, so there weren't many other people on the road and they probably thought we were a couple of like minded fools.. anyway.. we stopped at lights and they stopped so close it can only have been a fluke. So, checking there was nothing behind them, I put the car in reverse (for effect) and then me and my mate (both with very short hair at the time) both turned 180 degress in our seats and stared *grrrrrr* straight at the guys behind us..*grrrrr* the looks on their faces was priceless and the driver started reversing down the road quite quickly... didn't see them again!! We had a good laugh about that for quite a while afterwards.
