What to replace Octy vRS with?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of changing my car as I'd like a change. I'd probably regret it though....:D

What would be a good replacement?

Priorities:

Excellent handling

economical

decent boot

reasonably quick

I guess a used Mondeo STDCI would be the logical choice, but they're expensive to buy.

How much would a tidy 52 Octavia vRS (with APR remap) and 44K miles be worth?

A diesel Octy vRS?

for <£10k...

btw, how does an ST TDCI compare with a vRS diesel?

Not driven either, so cant compare.

But I'd imagine both meet all your points.

useful info then

I've driven a TDCi 130 mondeo 6 speed and it flies. The only thing it's lacking is decent suspension. Enter the ST....

Seriously, great handling, effortless torque and did I mention the great handling? If I needed a diesel, I would have one.

I'd expected so.... Hmm tempting...

btw, what's the Mazda MPS like?

Leon?

I'd like a bigger boot than a Leon and something not VAG, just for a change -although a Octavia II vRS would be good, just a bit too expensive.

The Mondeo ST TDIC is an awesome car, I can't think of anything better for £10k tbh.

Your vRS is probably worth at most £7500. :)

Dare I say it....

A Jag X-Type 2.0D or 2.2D Estate in Sport Guise?

nah. I'd sooner have the Mondeo, althought the Jag estate would be a better size than the Mondeo wagon.

I know one thing , You'll regret trading in your vRS! I got rid of mine in 2003 , and it still hurts now , I still cannot afford another one......

depends what you trade it in for, surely?

:)

If it has to be a diesel then you may consider the Mazda6 TD 143PS. They can be had for under 10K on autotrader and are a good drivers car. Same goes for the 6 Sport 2.3. petrol. Very good drivers car and decent spec for the money, again, under 10K for a decent motor.

Why not have best of both world as the Mondeo ST TDCI is available in estate version

I love this site!!!!

Ummm good... Welcome!

ST TDCi has always been on my maybe list. If I were looking for something bigger it'd be that or an older 5 series BMW diesel (525d 02 plates for that sort of money)
