Tyres opinions for Octavia RS 1.8T

Featured Replies

All excited now - just off to have new Toyo T1R Proxes fitted.

Dean you make me feel better!

My Dunlop Sport 01's have 1mm left after 8 months/8000 miles and the grip's gone....

I did think they were great.

Hmmmm

Michelin Pilots next maybe....

thanks for your replys.

I bought 4XBridgestone RE050 A, 225/45/17.

In Portugal costs 140

Fantastic - lovely new tyres. Just driving back from the fitters there is a sureness underfoot and the whole car just feels better balanced. I thought there was a bit of life left in the old tyres but now I am really glad to have gone for new ones. The road sound is quite different being quieter.

got F1's on mine......215/45/17.....great road holding and very smooth:)....just the right width and depth so it doesnt feel like your driving on the rim!!

was just reading this trying to find the size i need to upgrade to 225.. and i noticed 40k on proxies? Mine have been on for about 7k and need replacing!!

My car seems to eat tyres for breakfast.. maybe i'm driving her too hard!

i was going to get some conti II's as they seem to be a bit harder wearing

I don't hang about any, and reckon I'm presently looking at about 28k from T1-Rs (on an Elegance, not a vRS).

i had Dunlop SP Sport 01s on my vectra before it was written off and found them to be very good tyres but i only had them on for about 6 months so only did about 7k on them but they had lots of tread left on them and i drive pretty hard. i always though toyos where a softer compund so never last that long?

yeah they are pretty soft, friend of mine had a polo glx a few years back, his proxies lasted him for about 4k.. unbelievable!

Hay Antonio.

I recommend the 225/45/17.

The Bridgestone RE50A is a nice tyre. But I think the Goodyear Eagle F1 will be better.

There are same site with testes

I changed the original ones at 35.000 Km.

Actually, the folk who're quoting 10k miles or less from Proxes - which exact model was it? My figure came from the fairly new (but already superceded?) T1-R directional.

Agree with Ken - the old Proxes were very very soft and a friend got through a set on his Scooby in just over 5k miles. The newer ones seem to be much better wearing...

Btw, don't buy the Conti's or Primacy's imvho!

Chris

i have the T1-R's, the polo had the old style ones that were like chewing gum

I've recently changed from Pirelli P-Zero Rosso to Goodyear Eagle F1's which seem much better, especially in the wet!

How long they'll last though will be another matter, their certainly softer.

My Pirelli's were good for approx 15k miles.

I found the 225 F1's were wider than my 225 toyos, the F1's seem to be very close to the front shock. Not noticed any rubbing tho.

Across the crown of the tread!? I can believe the sidewalls being "bulgier"; the 55 section Toyos look very straight sidewalled.
