Featured Replies

Please help - car up for MOT first thing on Monday morning. Door cable has snapped. i have the new cable and have the inside door panel out BUT can NOT get the new cable fitted. do i have to take the entire locking system out??? I dad have to fiddle to get the snapped cable out. It is very fiddly wee job.

Which cable?

Assuming you are talking about the drivers door interior release cable, you should be able to fiddle to get it in the lock end, or you could take the lock bolts out and have a bit more access.

I tried to get the lock nuts off but they wont budge. any idea of what I need - hex or star- cause the nut looks like it needs a 12 pointed star screw driver and i cant get one anywhere!!!

They are spline drive bolts, pretty common these days.

you should be able to remove the door lock barrel by first loosening the barrel locking screw (access hole in the side of the door just above the lock catch) then the door handle can be pulled out and the cable removed and replaced.

good luck
