Wind Noise

Featured Replies

Hi,

Mrs A has an Octavia Estate which she seems happy with except for one thing, wind noise. I noticed that the LHS wiper blade never parked behind the trailing edge of the bonnet but that doesn't seem to be the cause. It seems to come from the front, passenger side (mostly) and I wondered if anyone else has this problem and a cure ?

We are going to get it back to the dealers to get sorted but I would like to have some ideas to throw at them rather than just get the usual "They all do that", because the demonstrators didn't :thumbdwn:

Any experience welcome

A.

The LH wiper blade would seem to be the culprit - it should park out of sight from the driver's seat. If it's causing eddies theyll make a noise. Take it back to the dealer and have it fixed.

Remember the blades dont park in the same position everytime.

Hi,

Unfortunately the wiper is not the problem as I said. If you use the wipers the noise stays constant and in the same place, I would expect it to change. The wiper also parks randomly depending on if the intermittent setting is used.

I think its either the big rain channel round the windscreen on the gap between the front wing and A-pillar. Either way its no good.

Should the channel have a filler piece in it ?

Cheers

A

Hi,

Try filling over any gaps with masking tape. If the noise has gone, then strip off the tape bit by bit until it comes back. Then go annoy the dealer

Cheers

I have a vrs estate and my wife also complained about wind noise. However since I've stopped eating beans the problem has gone!!:)

i've got exactly the same noise which appears to be coming from the drivers side passenger door on mk2 rs

It's a known problem that your dealer should be able to address for you.

cheers, Stu. I'll book it in. The car's generally "niggle" free after the first week.

was amazed to find water still drops into the hatch when opened after it's been raining. Just like my old mk1.

Does anyone know if it's possible to "turn up" the volume on the indicator repeater. Either it's very quiet, I'm going deaf or the wind noise is worse than I thought!

Say again :P

No, not that I'm aware of.

..or I've got the stereo on too loud. I must say i'm well impressed with that after the bargain basement piece of s*** in my X3
