Mobile phone contracts...

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the penalty is for finishing mobile phone contracts early??

Ive currently got a O2 online contract, which still has 2 or 3 months to run, but i desparately need a new phone.. would it just be a case of having to pay the balance of the line rental? - would i still be able to transfer my number? :)

Normally just payment of the remaining line rental.

If you want to transfer the number then you'll need to terminate the account.

A sneaky way which may or may not work with them is to reduce the tarriff to the lowest they offer and they cancel.

Maybe ill just give them a ring and see what they can do... ive had this number with them for gawwd... 6-7 years now, and i really dont have any complaints against them :)

O2 will often allow you to upgrade a little early if you agree to take another 12 months.

HTH

Last time i wanted a new phone i phonned O2 after doing a quick look around, and asked what they could do and it was a bit poor. Then mentioned i could get a free nokia n70 with 6 months free line rental.

They then offered half price line rental & the N70 for a free upgrade.

..... it pays to haggle!

To finish an orange contract IIRC, its your remaining line rental less 10%.

You spend enough - tends to swing the balance in your favour ;) Good result :D

It does pay to haggle.

This time last year on Orange i got 500 anytime any network minutes, 750 text messages a month, a free blue tooth headset and a Samsung D600. This was all in at

TBH, o2 online (or genie in the old days lol) have been great for me... they were the first company to offer boat-loads of free txt messages... which i still use alot

Recently ive been looking at the contract im on, basically paying £10 line rental for the £25 leisure text tarriff.. i might change it to one that has any-time minutes, as i am using my phone more often since work started charging me for calls and txt on their phones  - i might see what i can blag the £35 tarriff for, and some data allowance :D

EDIT: mmmm nokia N95 ;)

The deals on offer start to get better if you ring them and ask for a PAC code ;)
