Hi,

like many first time Skoda owners i ended up with mine after looking at what is available and making the obvious and informed choice:thumbup:

wanted a diesel because of the economy (honest gov, the performance never entered my mind:D ) and that led me to the VAG PD engines. after that realised that the Fabia was a bit of a bargain and could get an estate so my labrador would have some headroom.

having looked second hand and quickly relising that these cars hold their value, decided to buy new and live with the lower trim (yes i am a cheapskate:rolleyes: )

then found a 6 month old elegance estate ex demonstrator on the forecourt and managed to get a good price.

it does unfortunately suffer from front suspension knocking and creaking which i am informed is the drop links, not the ARB bushes, but so far the dealer has been great and just awaiting the parts for them to get it fixed under warranty.

so far all is well and no regrets. cant fault the breakdown of a new motor (even the best quality checks can miss something) so as long as it gets sorted quickly all is well:) it will be an interesting test of the quality of the dealer;)

only shame is that they dont put the PD130 in the estate but it is more than quick enough to play as it is.

anyway thats me, hello to all and thanks for all the great info thats available here.

hope as i get to know the car and get the chance to take it to bits after the warranty is out i will be of help as i am here for the duration. hope and expect to cover at least 200k miles on this motor

Hello :)

I've still got a phonograph that my better half took to bits - the bits look very nice now that I've polished them up (true is that). Luckily this is a car forum ;)

Seriously though. Welcome :)

lol were those the "spare parts" that you always are left with on reassembly:eek:

thanks all, though i am getting worried after reading the epic "Stutter" thread, time for some testing as i have noticed stuttering a couple of times:mad: but then again that could just be paranoia mixed with bad driving on my part:rofl:

shouldn't read these things the car is great:rolleyes:
