Servicing due?

Featured Replies

I've had my octavia for just over a year now.

The service book suggests that it should be serviced the sooner of 10000 miles and a year - the year has just passed and I've done just over 5000 miles but no spanner has come up on the maxi dot display to show that a service is due.

Is a service due or not?

Thanks

It should be set to variable servicing, which is a max of 20k or two years.

if the computer has been set to fixed servicing (which I was told by the dealer when I got the car) should the spanner appear after one year or is it just mileage driven?

I tend to use the car just at weekends (usually relatively shortish trips 25 miles round trip as opposed to long motorway driving), occassional use during the week, have relatively low mileage - is fixed servicing best for my type of driving or is the variable service interval appropriate.

the dealer I've taken the car for warranty said I should be on fixed service interval for the type of driving I do (the original dealer went bust so can't revert to him).

IIRC even the fixed interval on the Octavia 2 is 10,000 miles or two years for the bi annual inspection. But it should have a lube service at the year.

It would have been set by the factory for variable, if the dealer has set it for fixed then should have only done really after confirming with you that the service scedule is what you wanted.

Bit the answer you want is yes at a year it should have a lube service.

thanks for that - presumably then just an oil change & visual check so shouldn't be too expensive.
