Finally Got VAG COM - How To Diagnose PAS Problem

Featured Replies

I ve finally ot VAG COM running at home.

When I open VAG -COM and attempt to do an auto scan it says it needs a full registered version.

When I enter individual control modules and choose Cent Electrics on the Common tab, and look at the fault codes I see the following :

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

Control Module Part Number: 6Q1 937 049

Component and/or Version: BORDNETZ-SG. 1S30

Software Coding: 09362

Work Shop Code: WSC 13765

1 Fault Found:

01309 - Power Steering Control Module (J500)

49-00 - No Communications

The obvious question here is what does this mean and is there any further checks I can do through VAG COM to isolate the problem?

Please help if you can

Good morning, see your not getting much help.

Is yours fuly regstered VAGCOM and if so have you tried turning the fault code off?

Try address 44 - steering assistance.

Just a thought, Joey122mac, but if it's been bothering you for months, have you thought of joining Freedom so you can post your question in Ask a Tech as it's rather technical? There's no guarantee you'd get the answer you need, and I doubt you'd get your

I tried address 44 and it that it couldnt init or conatct the control module.

Not sure the step is now

Yeah Address 44 will work but not until the control module is communicating with the central electrics. I've got the same problem and the fault code won't clear. I've checked the wiring today and can't find fault. So I reckon either the ECU is buggered or a fuse has blown. (or both!)

What sort of interface (lead) are you using and where did you get it??

What I meant was the fault code clears but immediately comes back. In the past, I have been able to access Address 44. I remember because It came up with a fault code about the horn being intermittant. Which cleared and then didn't come back.

Go for the fuse(s), besides that check for widened pins on the control module power supply wiring.
