Coil Pack Failure

Featured Replies

Well had my first coil pack failing at the weekend on my Apr 2002 RS. Dealer took it in and took a part of another customer's RS that was waiting for a coil pack for over a month. Skoda instucted him to do that to try and keep the hire car prices down!. Dealer has said as soon as he gets some new modified coils he'll call me in. Doesn't fill you with confidence, when is the next one going to go.

Is it right that Skoda should use customer cars to supply spares to others...I don't know, what do you guys reckon?? :?

Hmm, Isn't that theft ? Still I guess if the guy is driving around in a hire car anyway waiting for one coil pack, waiting for 2 isn't going to make any difference is it. Let's be honest if they hadn't done that and had taken yours in and given you a hire car as well it'll only result in servicing cost/OTR prices going up to recoup it so it's us that'll pay in the end !

Driving a 1.6GLXi I don't think I'm in line for this coil pack problem. But was wondering, if you suffer a failure don't they replace all four? That would seem the best bet from a 'preventative' point of view.

I thought their current policy was just to replace the ones that go (if

they have them in stock, that is). Whether they stick to this or go for

a full set of replacements once stock arrives, I don't know...

Any more news on getting your car back on the road Paul?

I was keeping quiet so as not to tempt fate......yes been back on the road since Friday! All seems well at about 150 miles on. Travelling to the office in Hemel Hempstead tomorrow, will be nervous as I pass the point on the A500 where I came to a stop last time, but have everything crossed!

Have to say the garage, Priory Fiat (Urmston) looked after me well, they supplied a replacement car after a couple of days, I'm not out of pocket, the car is fixed. Not a bad bunch, shame they don't sell Skoda.

I suppose selling Fiats they'll be used to looking after customers with

broken cars...

Good to hear you're Skudding again though!

While I was picking up my car, at the Fiat dealers, I looked at a Stilo Wagon in the showroom. The pice tag on a nice, but not top of the range model was nearly
