Octavia 2.0 TDi Elegance - Handling Mods

Featured Replies

Has anyone done anything to improve the handling of a standard Octy II (ie not the vRS).

I know the Sports suspension can be ordered from Skoda, but what after-market stuff would you recommend.

When I posted pics of my new alloys a few people recommended Eibachs - will these make much difference to the handling, or are they more for aesthetic reasons?

What about anti-roll bars - is anything available and what difference will they make?

Koni FSD shock absorbers! with Eibach springs if you like a firmer setup.

The konis are 'trick' in shock absorber terms in that they are firm/stiff to low frequency movement i.e. braking/cornering for improved handling, but soft and comfortable to high frequency movement i.e. ripples in the road/broken tarmac etc. for good ride comfort, with the benefit in that they operate hydraulically so have no fancy electronics to connect them.

Eibach springs simply are about 25% stiffer than standard and lower the ride height by around 30mm - with the expected improvement in handling but perhaps at the expense of ride comfort.

Anti roll bars can provide a good and very cost effective improvement in handling, particularly on the Fabia, but I have no experience for the Octy so can't comment.

Have a look at Awesome GTI's website as they stock all the above.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I like the sound of the Koni FSDs but they are a bit above budget at the moment.

It would be good to get some thoughts on ARBs vs Eibachs in terms of which would give the most improvement for the money (but I'm not going to ask Awesome GTI just yet as Sarah will probably make me buy both )

I'd save up and get the4 eibach/FSD combo box.

There was a group buy on here for it, but basically live iwth it until you can afford to buy both then have it done.
