Cambelt change freqency.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and would like a few questions answered if possible. I've just purchased a W reg (2000) Fabia 1.9 SDI. The mileage is only 40k and has fsh. The service book states that the cambelt requires renewal at 60k, but as the car is nearly seven years old does the belt need changing before the 60k mark?

I've also had the oil pressure light come on(red) and beeps!! The oil level is fine but the light comes on after start up but disappears soon after. Is this a common fault?

Thanks.

Cambelt 60k or 4 years whichever comes first, so yes, you should really change yours now.:)

Oil pressure light should not come on or beep after starting the engine and should go out immediately. The fact that yours does not & goes out after a little time shows that either the switch is faulty or it is taking a little longer than usual for oil pressure to build up in your engine after starting.

This is not really ideal & should be looked at. It's not a particularly common fault that I've heard of.
