better sound?

Featured Replies

if i mounted two decent 6x9 speakers on my parcel shelf on my octy vrs would the sound be a bit better with the normal head unit do you think,???????

I wouldn't do it. They don't look great, they are screaming 'please break my back window and steal me' plus you'll ruin a good and probably not cheap parcel shelf. Look here for better options. I just added a sub, and amp through a aftermarket headunit. Sounds a lot better, even on the standard speakers.

i guess your right, might just change the head unit for a better one.

at the end of the day its the head unit that makes the music sound good. if its produced crisp and clear then that is what the speakers will re-produce.

To be honest, i dont really rate 6x9's much any way. give me a set of componant speakers any day of the week. a seperate mid range and tweeter with a crossover and thats it done.

Hear hear

The standard speakers are only there so that skoda isn`t selling a car without a stereo they are not much use for anything but bulking out the brochure. Ive got

6x9s, amps, sub, kenwood head etc but if you just dont want or need the whole shebang you can get some nice sounding coaxial (built in tweeters) speakers to fit the standard locations, just watch your mounting depth in the doors and how far the rear ones stick out to the front/top. Remove the standard ones and have a look, plus have you heard of the tweeter trick (search the forum) It defo makes a differance i dissconnected mine for the week before i put the good stuff in.

In short put some nicer speakers in and then a nice head (avoid Helfrauds)

Id disagree and get some components so the tweeter is at ear level where it was intended, not directed at your feet.

6x9's are like covering holes in your cars bodywork with wallpaper!

Go For Some Good Components Up Front And A New Head Unit, That Should Make A Big Difference I Got Some 17cm Infinity Reference Components In The Front And A New Kenwood Hd, Sound's Sweet Now Speakers Were £40 New Hd Was £70

I would try the rear tweeter disconnect trick as it does make a difference to the standard set up
