Fuel Filter fitting - Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi,

Got myself the haynes manual to guide me. But the manual says loosen the fuel filter bracket. Where about is the nut/bolt/whatever to do this. Couldnt see it last night (yes it was pitch black  )

Also are the clips on the fuel lines reusable?

Cheers

Hi John

Theres a sleeve around the fuel filter holding it in place by a long threaded nut and bolt with a crosshead top on the engine side of the sleeve which you need to loosen to remove the filter, no need to remove it completely as the filter will slide out of the top when loose enough

Daylight will help you here ;)

Personally i would replace the fuel line clips with jubilee but the other clip is reusable

Cheers.

On the fabia there isnt a screw or bolt holding it in place.

All you do is remove the pipes, spread the three tags around the edge and lift out.

Ross is spot on , and its a doddle to do , then just crank it over , it should start straight away , no pumping up diesel or bleeding air out

Discovered this last night in the daylight

Right filter changed. Lets see how the next tank goes...

My appologies John for the mis-information Ross was spot on as usual as i found out when checking my other halfs fabia last night

Thats what you get for assuming it would be the same as the octy

Glad you got it all sorted anyway

The Fabia Haynes manual gets this wrong, even showing a photo of the phantom "screw".

I've just struggled to get my fuel filter out. The Motaquip one my local garage fitted was an extremely tight fit. The Mann filter I've just put in slid into the holder easily.
