Speed Detectors

Featured Replies

Hey a Mate ;) in looking at one of these Snooper S6-R Neo Plus - Sat Nav and Speed Camera Detector Products - Snooper

and was wondering about people thoughts. He can get it at a good price, 200 Euros.

Do they pic up on lasers or is it too late when they do ?

How far in advance do they normally pick up Radar ?

Are Radars used much for speed detection ?

What to Mobile Gatso's & Normal Gatso's normally use ?

To be honest its not really for the GPS locations they are getting it, its more for the hidden factor as there not allowed here (hence the lack of info on them and people making guesses).

Rumour has it there going on a big $$$$$$ revenue collecting like in the UK as its going Private from what I hear.

Any info appreciated.

Generally if you get a laser warning, it's too late. You might get lucky and pick up some scatter from a car in front being checked but it's rare.

What your friend needs is a laser jammer, IIRC you can get "garage door openers honest guv'" which do the same. This will prevent the laser device from operating but you might find yourself pulled over a bit further down the road whilst they give your car the once over. They don't like it when you interfere with them, well I'm sure SOME do...

Plus you'll get tired of the false alarms from traffic lights, automatic doors, etc.

How about a Laser Jammer? ;)

Problem is Detectors are illegal here so they'd go nuts if you jammed them (I'm sure they'd cop onto that). Would the Snooper pick up anything of other cars getting zapped.

Are all the units the cops use Laser or are there some Radar handheld ones ?

That's why the Jammer is the way forward - they are sold as garage door openers or remote security light switches.

Are there ones the can be hidden under the bonnet?

GAFF, just took a look at the link. Your mate would need to check if the database covers Ireland.

I like that the laser/ gatso sensor can be fitted in the engine bay, so it looks like it could be a worthwhile investment.

Yea but if I'm reading all the above right the laser detector ain't any good as by the time it alerts you its too late.

AFAIK it does cover Ireland.

Btw Is it possible to track the GPS signal for my house...for example if the car was stolen ? Or is that completely different ?

I would doubt it is possible to track the car with that unit, as it would require a transmitter. The Snooper looks like a receiver. AFIK Razor has a tracking device fitted to his, might be worth a PM.

All laser detectors will have that problem - only way around it is a jammer, or a lighter right foot :)

Yes the Jammer sits covertly beind the grille.

Stu - got a link? (PM me if it's a bit dodge!)
