Climatronic Unit

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm a bit confused about the Cliamtronic unit in my '03 Okky Elegance TDi 1.9 110 Estate (phew!). According to the owner manual, the temperature on the left side of the display should be the Ambient temperature in the cabin, and the temp on the right is the temp you would like in the car.

The sensors on the front of the display are meant to monitor the ambient temp in the cabin, but mine doesn't seem to do that. It is displaying the OUTSIDE temp instead.

Should it be doing this?

Did I misread the manual and now have to go back to Junior school and relearn how to read using those Fuzzbuzz books?

If the unit isn't reading the temp inside the cabin, how can the climate control work properly?

Mine showed external temp and temp I wanted to maintain.

Didn't show internal temp anywhere without pressing the right buttons, but it is monitoring it just not showing it.

Sounds right to me. On my 2001 Elegance, the temperature on the left is the outside temperature. The temperature on the right is what it is trying to maintain inside. The two sensors on the unit are reading internal temperature, but that's not displayed - unless it's just been started, or you've just adjusted it, desired and actual cabin temperature should be pretty close!

The temperature in the dash pod is also outside temperature. It switches to that mode automatically when it hits 4 degrees C as an ice warning, which is quite annoying because if the temperature drops as you're driving along, it's a bit confusing when you glance down at what you usually have it set on. "3.5 mpg? Bloody hell ... no, wait ...".

Ha! I had mine set on clock and looked down to see 1.5 which thew me! That would explain that weird occurance too.

Thanks for the replys, it has helped put my mind at rest. I kept half an eye on the display whilst driving back from station and I could see it varying the fan speed. The other 1.5 eyes were elsewhere!

Had a great moment picking up my son tonight where I turned up at my ex wife's place in the Okky. She's had one for a while, a W reg which has done about 130k and has seen better days. Her new husband's jaw quite literally dropped a couple of inches when I told him mine's only done 32k.

Although I know it's wrong I allowed myself a smug grin (just watch it blow up on me now whilst on the motorway!!!)
