Ive had a Parrot blutooth car fitted today, I noticed that the unit doesnot switch itself off and after some investigation, noticed that the fitting instructions assumes that one of the live feeds is switched by the ignition, however this is not the case and the unit stays on. Has anyone fitted a parot kit ? wher can I pick up an ignition switched live (+12V)

There should be a switched live going into the standard HU, worth a check.

I must admit the Parrot has this annoying tendency to not always reset itself properly after a short stop with one of my phones at a petrol station or similar, and I sometimes have to stop, turn off engine, lock doors, unlock and start again, to get it to behave. I may actually wire in a momentary interrupt switch so I can force a hard-reset without having to pull over and stop. If you have a spare blanking plate it may be worth considering

There is no switched live to the Octy II headunit.

Is there a cable to allow the use of the cd changer and aux feeds, the one i bought from connects2 doesnt have this???

If you do a search you will find you can either take a feed off the fusebox (phone) feed or the climate control

My fusebox didnt have a terminal in the fuse box for the phone something i didnt find mentioned when i searched, which wouldve helped as i couldve been a little more prepared when i did mine

The numbers for the terminals in the fusebox have been posted. I don't have one in front of me at the moment else I would add it.

There is a switched live supplying the heater controls, this is easy to pick up on.

...In short, fitting a Parrot to a Skoda Octavia (05) is a bit of a pig, however can be done. With no switched live on the back of the head unit this needs to be sourced else wehere and in my case was picked up from the fuse board.

My biggest piece of advise, pay a proffessional to fit it, the install by Halfords was a mess and didnt work properly...

Philip from justcarkits.co.uk (who has the patience of a saint) fitted the kit properly, wired in a switched live and made a nice neat job of the install. I just wish I knew about him before I bought my kit, he sells the kits and installs them with a 3 year guarantee for the same price as Halfords.
