If the frequency is the same it should work. It will be stamped somewhere on the key. I think you will find they are both 434MHz although some differ.

I see someone post whoring :P

You might be able to get ahead of me as my laptops playing funny buggers:rolleyes:

Coding can be done via VAG-COM but you need the 4 digit SKC from the dealer.

Key blanks can be supplied ready cut to a good digital image from a guy on eBay. They are ok.

Fobs - check the frequency a stated, IIRC it's on a label inside them.

Thanks for all your info. I'll have a hunt on ebay & see whats available. I'll quiz the dealer as well. If I have any success I'll post up here how it worked out. Thanks Again.

Just checked the frequencies of both fobs and they are, as suggested, 434 MHz. Looks promising then ... so I'll give it a go.

I reckon your three button fob will work just fine, we've got a 2002 Fabia Estate with a three button fob here, lock/unlock with tailgate unlock in the middle. :)

Just an update on my quest to get a second key. I bought a 2 button keyfob on ebay for £6 , then I bought a blank key for £6 , the blank doesnt fit the 2 button fob BUT it does fit my 3 button old Golf fob. Off to get it cut at a local keycutting shop .. his immediate comments were "another one been on ebay then !" He told me that the key must have the small cylindrical tube in the key bit of the fob , the golf one doesn't have that but my origional key and the 2 button one I bought does have this (it sits in one side of the plastic & you can see it when you seperate the 2 bits). Apperently its not just a case of cutting a copy of the key. So with me not having the VAG COM software I think I am stuck with his offer of doing the whole thing for £65. Any comments chaps (or chapesses ... sorry!)

I've just noticed another post with somebody struggling with keys...What fun !

Check out local locksmiths - ones round here have been prompted by AA to get into auto market - they can get fobs/keys for approx 60 and are undercutting the stealers big time.Might be worth stopping at an AA van some time and asking bloke for help -- don't forget you (or Furby ,or both) are members, sir.

One other suggestion - RF Solutions Ltd do keyfobs @ circa £11 , and special orders - theirs are 433Mhz - and they look auto inclinated---might be worth an ask.
