Engine upgrade

Featured Replies

First of all, is it possible to fit a 1.4 16v engine into a normal 1.4 mpi shell, yes/no or what mods are needed.

And what mods can be done to the 1.4 8v mpi engine.

Thanks for the help ;) (Feel a engine swap coming on)

Yep it is possible.

You would require (off the top of my head)

Engine (complete)

Gearbox

Mountings

Driveshafts

ECU

Wiring loom

i am also interested to hear whether this is possible and at what estimated cost :D

basically it isn't worth bothering

just go out and buy the car with that engine allready fitted

why bother, save money and buy a better car

why bother

To own a unique car that you've put work into and have pride in the finished result, rather than a mass-produced car just like everyone else's?

fair point, i thought of doing that to my old car...then realised it would be cheaper to just buy something better....i had planned to strip my old car down and replace 1.4 with a v6 or m16

if your trying to make a unique car, then shouldn't you be aiming higher?

I would, but each to their own I guess...

Doing all that work and fitting a 16v over an 8v wouldn't be worth it, sling a 2.0 with webber carbs - that ought to do it!
