Symphony Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all

If I wish to replace the Symphony HU in my '04 Fabia vRS, do I need an additional wiring loom, or will my existing replacement HU (that's already ISO equipped) do the job?

Also, do I need a powered aerial adaptor?

Was just about to buy the facia plate that's required when I came across a bundle including the plate, removal keys, ISO loom and powered aerial adaptor....

Any help greatly appreciated

I replaced the Symphony HU in mine with a Kenwood one. The Kenwood tools will remove the Symphony HU, but also will a junior hacksaw blade snapped in half.

The ISO connectors will fit fine in the Fabia.....you just need to reverse the permanent and switched lives as they're the wrong way round in the Fabia.

On my Kenwood it had bullet connectors on these which made it very easy.

You'll need the adapter for the ariel connector and also a cage as the Symphony HU just slots into to dash on its own.

Also, you will need the facia adapter plate to clip above the non standard HU to fill the gap the Symphony leaves behind.

Hope this helps..

Chris.

I removed the HU with some sony keys and tested the new loom etc and all works okay, I couldn't test the aerial signal as I've lost the adaptor (pesky little thing, only saw it last week).

Anyhoo, I've ordered just the facia plate off e-bay, so should have the new HU installed at the weekend.

Cheers

You'll have fun after fitting the aerial as the cable is stiff and it makes slotting the radio back into the dash afterwards a bit awkward. Apparently you can remove the air vents above the radio with an old credit card so you can get your hand behind the radio whilst you slot it back in and keep the cables out of the way.

Good luck anyway mate. ;)

Cheers Chris, I'll try that!

What does everyone do with the old Symphony units? I have a crappy MS402 in my car and would love a replacement. Would a modest price aftermarket jobbie beat the Symphony for performance?

The Symphony I found was pretty good for sound quality. It has greater levels of bass than my Kenwood which is bizarre. But I found it awkward to use, it can't play MP3's and it lacks other functionality.

The other good thing about it is that there's no facia to remove every time you get out of the car. :D
