Is this normal?

Featured Replies

I have just put down a deposit on a Skoda Fabia Classic Estate 1.4 mpi. When I test drove it I noticed the dial on the rev counter was shaking when the car was idle and the engine was 'juddering'. Once the car was moving it didnt happen but as soon as the car was stationary the juddering came back. It almost felt like the car was on the verge on stalling but it never did.

The sales person said it would be fixed after it had been serviced but when i rang back after the service they said it was still doing it but the mechanics said all skodas did this.

Is this normal or am being tricked into buying a dud?

I cant say mine does that and its now 5 years old. I should ring them again and query it.

I borrowed a 56 plate when mine was in for a service and it juddered all the time.

Chap at the dealers said it was normal but I just thought hmmm....

could be coil packs, our 56 was doing that and then misfired with engine light coming on, the lot.... turned out to be a duff batch of coils from the manufacturer....these have been replaced now and we are picking car up tomorrow so 'fingers crossed'.....

I suspect the 1.4MPI does this as standard - it's like the idle is set just a bit too low. SWMBO's has done it from new ....

yeh our 1.4mpi does this too, cleaning the throttle body sometimes makes a difference , but i think its something you learn to live with.
