Limp mode

Featured Replies

Car flicked into limp mode while simply cruising at 75 on the motorway - I even felt it go which was a first. :D Pulled into the inside lane and did the engine stop and restart whilst pottling along at 60 - turbo was fine after this and I pulled into the next services for a vagcom scan.

"Boost pressure deviation" - or along those lines. 'El techie one has already confirmed it is a boost issue, and it has not repeated itself. Just hoping it's "one of those things" and it will not repeat itself tomorrow for the rolling road session.

deviation? does this mean there was a sudden spike in boost pressure? hope it doesn't go bang ;)

Have you got it mapped the way you want yet? or are you still running the old map?

I certainly never felt a spike as I was only cruising so boost was no more than 4 or 5 PSI - I wasn't even accelerating. I'm guessing that the N75 box picked something up and then threw a wobbly. Turbo was fine when I left the services. ;) The plume of smoke I left on the sliproad was testament to that. :D

In answer to your question - No, and Yes.

I'ts a negative deviation code. What happened was that the boost didn't match the requested. The actual boost was lower than what the map asked for. I'd get the hoses check and get the turbo checked as it could be faulty.
