Hello!

How do i "de-code" the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)?

VIN on my Fabia: TMBHS26YX712345678

Thank You!

All VINs these days are 17 digits. I don't know what all of them mean in a Skoda VIN, but here is what I know. Digits 7 and 8, 6Y in this case is the designation for Fabia, digit 10 is the model year (7 = 2007) and digit 11 is the factory where the car was made (4 = Mlada/Boleslav in the Czech republic), digits 12 through to 17 are usually a sequence number which makes the number unique.

I would have taken a bit more care about publishing my VIN number....

Well, in many cars the VIN can be found just by looking at the bottom of the windscreen and new cars at the cardealer has stickers on them with VIN printed on.

So, I did not think that the VIN should be held a secret.

Just edit the last 8 to read 12345678.
