bumper damage advice - 06-vrs

Featured Replies

hit a rabbit last night (bolted out the verge) - hit it at 60mph.

It's an 06 vRS with Xenons. The bit that's damaged is around the foglight - the grill bit has gone, and the mounts are shot.

Does the bumper comprise 2 bits (top and bottom section) - or is it one complete unit?

my excess is

Its a complete unit.

spoke to dealer -

I went off roading in mine when I did a spot of evasive driving.

Same with mine, the black insert is damaged and took the mounting with it so needs a new bumper.

Mine was about that price from the dealer, but see how much a seperate respray and fit from a body shop would be if you offered cash and got the bumper for them?

Lucky the fog is ok, they are £50 each from Skoda, I only know as I killed mine during the afore mentioned incident to the tune of £460.

If it's on the drivers side, make sure the cowling for the intercooler is not damaged, mine was torn off so it don't really work now.

My car is zip tied up at the front.

will get is sorted on the insurance I think.

Took another look at it (it's the near/passenger side). The fog mounting is cracked - but the lens is ok.

The only thing hanging off - which I've clipped back into place - is some sort of sensor. Perhaps temperature?

There's a great accident repair centre (Wilts Accident Repair Centre) near me. They did my Mk3 Colour Concept (a tough yellow to match) - and it was perfect.

I'm guessing 'black magic' comes out of a tin?

D

The sensor thing is the ambient temperature sensor which ordinarily is fastened to the bumper by the foglight upper mounting screw.

Black magic is out of the tin yup.

Black magic will have to be mixed up the same as just about any paint.

I thought that BUT my bodyshop go yes we have the paint in stock. I know my other bodyshop which charges a grand for doing a door handle have a full blown mixing booth and i believe they pay so much for the paint codes or somthing.

SO Whats it mean by the other (much smaller) bodyshop saying we have it in stock??

Did you kill it? :D

LOL, yep; didn't stand a chance. Kinda went over it with the front wheel too!

It paid the ultimate price for running infront of my car LOL,

D

just think ur lucky it was a rabbit not a fox ....

friend of mine coming down the A2 doing about 70mph, fox runs out (7pm at night too) and hits fox, luckly didnt cause an accident but fox gets up and runs off. Checked his car and the protective cover under his bumper is all gone (fox must be running around with a large piece of plastic in its neck). He took the car to a garage and it needed a full new bumper, respray etc
