Furby gone into the garage :(

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

After last week's problems (rough engine, leaking egr, squeaking noise from n/s/f wheel) the cars gone into Alex Lawrie. Car has only done around 21k miles and Im surprised at how many things have gone wrong with it.

I informed the service manager that the engine had been remapped so he's aware that any problems related to this wouldn't be under warranty which is fine. What about the EGR valve? Would that be covered under warranty if it is leaking oil? He said that this would be changed but that was before I told him about the remap.

He also said that they'd have a listen to the squeaking noise on the front of the car and they'd see if they have to clean the brake assembly. At least thats cheaper than a wheel bearing but I'd be annoyed if it was a stone causing that noise!

I also found that the drivers seat has started to fray up. The service manager said that this would not be under warranty as the stitching has not failed. I informed him of the forum and told him that many people have had the same problem and its been sorted under warranty so he said he'd look into it. I thought this would be a simple warranty job?

Finally there's a small dent on the rear wheel arch. The service manager said its doubloe skinned so pretty muhc impossibly to do pdr on it. Is this true or can you just remove the wheel arch and push it out from the inside?

Now all I've got to do is get the wheels refurbished after Nationwide left scratches over the front ones and stick my ICE in. Grrr bloody cars :@

I wonder if they will blame the map for all the problems. mmmmmmmm

I doubt it, this garage is pretty decent and have helped me in the past a lot :)

Be interesting to see the outcome Irf.

Hope your car gets better.

Thanks John :)

They rang earlier, was impressed by how quickly they rang me back. The EGR valve and engine mount had gone and they are going to replace them under warranty. They haven't looked at the brakes and are going to talk to SUK about the seat cover. With regards to the dent, the guy that comes round to fix them isn't there today so will have to find someone else to look at it.

All in all a better outcome than I was expecting :) They have to order the EGR and engine mount in so will be booked in for another day, hopefully later this week.

Good news. The service guys know me well as the guy with the heater troubles.

Reminds me. I need to book mine in again sometime. Think the heater blower is blowing air from behind the dash.

But all in all great dealer.

Good Outcome, Top Dealer.

Irf , just out of interest , which engine mounting ?

Well I collected the car and it's booked in for the engine mount on Tuesday. They said they are not sure when the EGR will arrive but if its there before Tuesday that will get done at the same time. The dealer said I can carry on driving my car but I'm worried that I'm damaging the engine if I do. Also found loads of green ink on one of the front seats. My fault I suppose as I forgot to tell them not to clean my car as the dealership is excellent but the valeters are pants.

Ric I'm not sure which mount it was, I didn't ask. Will find out on Tuesday.

Yep, a brilliant outcome indeed.

I think it fair enough about the EGR, but I would have argued the engine mount failed prematurely due to the extra stress exerted on it due to the remap...

10/10 to the dealer!!!

It's always good to read about helpful dealers. Please post feedback in the dealer section here in due course. :)
