TDI PD100 remap questions

Featured Replies

I'm about to get my PD100 combi remapped, but I'm concerned about the power characteristics of the available remaps. I like the way the combi drives, but it could do with more grunt.

What I don't want is a huge 'headline grabbing' power spike at (say) 2k rpm and then nothing ... I would like to keep the standard characteristics, just have more of it.

Can a remap give these characteristics, or is it easier simply to get a tuning box which will give more poke by overfuelling the existing power curve?

Tuning box worked for me and also extended the available usable power up to the red line :D

I'm sure Rob could give some advice... he was running a dragon box on his PD100, and it gave about 140bhp ish...... no undue smoke either....

Talk to Jabbasport and their peers.

Ask for a "soft generic" remap, throw in the words smooth and progressive.

You should be able to get a tweaked generic map installed which allows a progressive right foot.

The ONLY problem I have with tuning boxes is the effect the constant overfuelling has on the EGR valve, I believe a good remap will turn this setting down/off?

You can just turn the EGR down with VAG-COM :D

Ah ... didn't know that.

This plus the obvious cost difference swings matters back towards a tuning box and a trip to the local VAG specialists.
