04 110tdi Octavia Elegance Intermittent Lack of Power

Featured Replies

All, we have the above car and intermittently there seems to be a serious reduction in power above 2500 rpm. If the car is turned off it resumes to normal in the main. The car sometimes seems noisier from cold and when this is the case the problem manefests inteslf later in the day at somepoint. No errors are showing on the dealer OBC diagnostics. Has anyone seen this issue? I have noticed a few posts refer to the "readiness sensor", what is this? Is this on all cars or just a select few? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Sounds like the dreaded turbo problem! My 1.9tdi did the same thing. Do you lose power (acceleration), but if you stop and re start the motor everything is back to normal? This is what mine used to do. Finally the engine system light came on, the dealer plugged in the computer and it came out as fault code P0234 Turbo overboost. Remedy new turbo!!! There are various threads relating to this problem on VW and Audi websites. the problem is either the N75 unit or sticking vanes on the turbo. The problem would occur maybe once a week, towards the end before the turbo was replaced it would happen within five miles of leaving home and would not reset. Best of luck!

Or possibly a faulty air mass sensor? That was the answer to similar problems on our Mk 1 Octy.

thanks guys its my dads car, its done over 60,000 miles tho and the dealer is refusing to sort under warranty, at the moment they cant find any issues with the car via computer diags

Get them to check the VNT actuator operation, sound slike a sticky turbo.

And this is in the wrong section, i'll move it.

My Octy was on 62,000 miles when the fault first developed, the garage said no to any warranty claims. I spoke to Skoda Assistance and they did a deal. If the car has always been Skoda serviced I would give Assistance a call and explain the issue.
