I stumbled across this forum after a recommendation from The DVD Forums, where there are a few happy Octavia vRS owners. I posted a question there, and I was forwarded here! Anyway, I'll copy and paste the question here. If anyone can advise I'd really appreciate it.

"Just thought I'd resurrect this thread because a 04 plate vRS has popped up during my perpetual search to replace my Golf. I had a test drive this afternoon and it really put a massive smile on my face. It must be the perfect combination of practicality and performance I've ever driven.

However, I think the dealer is trying to pull a fast one on the price. Like I say it's an 04 with 50050 otc (so quite high for the age). It's in very good nick and it's from a main dealer so it's got 12 months warranty and so on, fsh, 50k service done.

Personally I'd agree with you, wait and come in with an offer of £8200 in a couple of days.

If he can easily get the price then it will be gone by then, but at the same time make sure you set a budget for yourself and don't go over it.

Don't forget the cambelt etc will need doing in under 10'000 miles, so i guess i would pay a bit more if that work had been done along with the water pump and tensioners at teh same time.
