Goodtear Eagle F1....its worth shopping round

Featured Replies

:DGot a Goodyear Eagle F1 fitted to my Fabia from KWIK FIT for

LOL. Kwik fit and ATS are jokers.

They've gone up then.........:D

I got a couple of Eagle F1s for my Polo GTi at the end of 2005 from Kwik Fit and they charged about

I think with the weight over the steery end of the Fabia, something with a stiffer sidewall than the Goodyears is called for.

How you figure out what that is, I dunno. I'm quite happy with the Contis at the moment but it's probably fair to state that I don't push them that hard.

I know Bridgestone S03PPs would do the job but they're not great in the wet. Plus they gave me nightmares on the Impreza for sniffing out every dip, nook cranny and tramline in the road.

when i last checked on the Mytyres site they weren't listing the Toyos

F1's are great... especially on a hot summers day :)

Did yesterday

Much better lateral grip than the F1's

Toyo's are quiet good, but prices vary a lot depending on the tyre company fitting them. The likes of KWIK fit are always expensive. Phone apound your local tyre companys, sometimes they ask what price have you been quoted? Always ask for a complete price ie fitted balanced etc. I'm not sure what area you are in, but I use a small tyre fitter near Woking. There's no Bull***t just a quick service and I have never found a beter price.

ATS also quoted me £130 for an F1 -and took weeks not to supply it (much hand-wringing over delivery problems - so I ended up of all places at my local Skoda dealer where they did the job for £96. Not the very chepest I know - but if the dealer can put it on it this price, fully fitted & balanced etc., it just shows what sort of margin ATS & Kwikfit must be working with!

I paid about mid 80's to 90 quid each including home fitting for 2 F1's, from one of the internet companies. Nice way to do it, shame I could barely remove the wheel nuts 6 months later  'cause they were so over tightened.

I like the F1's on the front of the Fabia vRS, the rigidity of the sidewall makes the handling much better. Certainly way better than the original Pilot Primacy's which were total pants.:thumbdwn:

You really need to try the Toyos! They are in a different league with the sidewalls

I agree with that. They are awful.

the price difference for F1's over is huge!!....they can be double the price at some places!!....i just say to them that i bought them last time from here and they give me the same price!!....fast fit in goatstown , dublin are very good:).....they were the cheapest by far and they still get them for me at that price:).....145 euro a corner!!.....steep i know but some places were over 220 euro a corner!!

kit:)

Wow Goodyears must be like the marmite tyres of the VRS, from what I've read ill give these a try and see if I notice the difference. I may even pop down to a local meet just to see what othere are using and nose at the general setup....

Now the weather is hotting up a bit I can see a few presents being beought for the car :D

just got 4 Toyos off Ebay for £289.99 , or £72.50 each , best price i had seen recently was £77 each

i'll get them fitted at work for free , hopefully

I have also just ordered Eagle F1`s with my new rims - but am a little worried reading this thread. However my dad has Eagle F1´s on his Volvo 850 T5 which i have driven quite a bit, and i am VERY impressed with the handling and grip, especially in the wet.

So I hope I have chosen the right tires - but am confident that it will handle well, as a Volvo 850 isn´t lightweight over the front axle, just as the Fabia.

I paid £89 per corner for 215/40/17 here in Denmark.

In almost 30 years of motor car ownership and a fair few tyres in that time, I have never found Kwikfit or ATS competitive. Besides, I don't trust Kwikfit. I have always found the local independant tyre dealer competitive and my hard earned goes their direction.

Goodyear F1`s are a top tyre and i fit and rec; them, they are now however available as an assimetric as well as the traditional rotational tread pattern :)

Toyos are good but down to personal preference i would rec; the F1

Have Rossos on mine though because im in the know

Phil (one of only 50 "Gold" Pirelli fitting centers);):D

Toyos FITTED about £90 F1`s £100

Its all about quality fitting, nitrogen, new valve finger plate balance..:P

Not all F1's are the same!! ..I dont like the GSD-2's!

The GSD-3s are the ones to get with their one piece tread pattern - perform + look better (+auto express award)

I bought the 3's but had the GSD-2's miss-fitted by mytyres - had them take em off and re-fit 3's as paid for. Be carefull as loads of sites use the wrong picture or process your order through with the GSD-2's. They are not the same tyre.

From my experience - Eagle F1 GSD-3's are one of the best tyres around for the Furby. I go through tyres!

PS. Kwikfit = over

I'm a big fan of F1s but have recently been converted to Michelins, just had four Pilot Exaltos fitted to my Vrs,not the cheapest at

Although I haven't got my fabia yet, I've heard alot of people say the F1's are one of the best for wet weather but wear out quickly.

I suppose it's how they suit your driving. TBH i can see myself ripping through a set.

It'll be intresting to hear other peoples views on this :)
