leaking EGR valve - new turbo?!

Featured Replies

Took my 06 VRS (15k miles) into the dealers today to get them to take a look at the EGR valve which has been leaking a very small amount of oil for the last 5k miles expecting them to say that that it just needed replacing.

Not only do they want to replace the valve but they are also saying that the turbo needs changing?!

Car has been driving fine and no sign of any turbo problems, limp mode etc.

Anyone else had this type of thing happen?

If it's a warrenty job, then let them change it.

A leaking EGR may have deposited oil/crud into the turbo, so if you are not paying then don't look a gift horse in the mouth :)

mine was leaking oil, and was replaced at the 60k service under warranty... the turbo is fine, 77k now , and no issues... BryanD had his changed under warranty for leaking oil... I wouldn't worry too much... if there's no issue with the turbo, I'd say your dealer is being a bit over careful... maybe just trying to make money out of the skoda warranty system? surely they must have a reason to change the turbo.... but hell, if you're not paying for it, why not?

My EGR valve leaks when I have the tuning box fitted, and clears up when the box is off ... the car is fine.

If the stealers are daft enough to fit a new turbo, let them!
