Distance Impulse Number

Featured Replies

Can anyone help?

I have an offcial VAG-COM CAN USB cable from Ross-Tech and the latest beta 704 software release. I changed a number of settings over the weekend to make my VRS behave how I want it to, all successfully.

However, two issues in Instruments (17):

  1. When recoding the 7 digit string, I changed the last digit first by mistake. I was trying to remove the seat belt warning. Now I am not sure what it should have been! It's the one that basically confirms the Distance Impulse Number, which I guess has something to do with wheel/tyre circumference? I can't be sure, but I think my speedo is now quite a lot faster than my TomTom shows. Does anyone know what the factory setting should be for my car (details in signature)?
  2. I have recoded the 3rd and 4th digits to 01, again I can't remember what it was. If I set it to 05 I get the low washer fluid light on even though the bottle is full!

Any ideas anyone?

Regards

Mark

Check the /VAG-COM/Debug/CodingLog.TXT for your original coding. ;)

Thanks Sebastian

Found exactly what I wanted so I can set the DIN back to the original (01).

Anyone know why the washer bottle low warning light won't go out?

Cheers

Possibly because you've enabled it and it's not fitted. If that's not the case then take it back to the dealers.

Also be very careful when making changes to Long Coding. Safest option is to take a screenshot and record it as the original before you make any changes.

A screen shot is not the optimal way to do it, 'cause you can't paste a number from a screen shot back into the program. Our suggestion is to do a complete Auto-Scan of the car before undertaking any changes. Copy or Save the Auto-Scan. This will give you a text file which includes all the original codings, which can can be copied and pasted back if necessary. (Typing Long Coding is very prone to errors).

Very True.

Didn't know about the autoscan text file feature :o

Uwe, Sebastian and Stu

Thank you all for your help and advice. Uwe, you have developed a great product and I would urge anyone who plans to use VAG-COM to purchase an official cable from you rather than messing about with eBay versions. I have been in software development for over 30 years and appreciate the investment you have made.

All my issues are resolved now. I have reset the correct DIN setting and confirmed as Stu suggested that i don't have a low washer fluid option fitted - seems an odd omission, but there you go.

Mark

Glad you have it sorted.

You are so very right about the genuine product. I have been sat in a car trying to sort out a problem and have emailed Ross-Tech (via Wireless) and got an almost instant reply.

I am a fan of the genuine product too. This software gets more and more clever with each release. :D
