A couple of questions regarding mpg

Featured Replies

Just looking at buying a Fabia VRS, and would like to compare with my 1.8T golf, i am currently putting

I get around 425 miles on 40 litres. (circa 48mpg)

D

Yeh i get about 410 miles with the computer saying i have 70 left in the tank, its more economical than my old 1.2 corsa

I jammed in 49.89 litres, releasing the vent numerous times, I'm currently on 470 miles with 80 left on the range. Approx

I had suspected over 400 miles on a tank.

1.8T now on Autotrader, hunt for a VRS is now on!

i always get over 400 miles to a tank and i boot it all the time.

i drove home from work the other day not in a rush (in economy mode 6th gear) and when i got home about 45miles away the trip read 68mpg and was up to 70mpg when on the motorway doing about 60mph.

180 miles today, at an average of 50.1 so I was happy :)

done a round trip to Daventry today , 260 miles total mileage , average going 62.7 average on return 64.1 , i think you should buy a VRS

My fuel comp gives low 50's

The miles covered v amount of derv is actually about 49 - I have been told I don't drive ecomically !

I have only had the Fabia for a few weeks, first Tank 43 MPG, with Super D in it i am now getting closer to 49MPG - u guys seem to be getting higher miles, its a mix of town and motorway driving, am i doing something wrong...

your figures are ok for a mix of town/motorway , the high figures i quote are generally after a long run on the motorway at a constant 70 mph , it takes a while to build it up to get 60+mpg

looking and thinking ahead whilst driving helps , i.e. instead of braking harshly *, leave a larger gap between yourself and the car in front , then when they brake , you can just back off the accelerator pedal and use the engine to brake , whilst doing this the injectors turn off , therefore saving fuel

you can do the same when coming up to a set of traffic lights

*obviously if they slam on , you slam on accordingly*

Mostly do very local mileage, car barely warming up

Averaging (with Miller Oils Diesel Powerplus additive to 'help') approx 42mpg.

Went on 200 mile trip Lot of motorway) mpg went up to 45 - extrapolating from that, if we'd done the whole journey on similar roads and motorway we'd have got 48 to 49 mpg.

Since I got mine i've been getting an average of 40 according to the computer, which will be optomistic.

Don't know how people manage high 40's and 50's?

My wife gets 400+ to a tank in her vRS - a bit less when I drive it!

On My Elegence, with a mix of town & motorway driving im getting 260 Miles to half a tank.

I don't normally let the tank get any lower than just under half, before filling it.

I normally do around 14 mile a day / 100 mile a week.

The computer shows about 54 mpg, though i don't believe it:thumbdwn:

Highest I've seen was an average of 63mpg when modified, 6 gear and 50mph.

A good bit more than 400 miles to one tank.

You're only getting about 22mpg in your Golf!!

Even driving only in town you'll get double that in the Fabia -my missus does mainly short journeys and her vRS has averaged 45mpg since new.

With diesel being cheaper than V-power you'll get about 480ish miles for the £45 you fill the Golf with (although you wont fit all of that in the Fabia).

The wife has had a round trip to Scotland and recons on 500 miles to a tank.

Should change my car...... Perhaps not...

For my last tank I really tried to spin it out and managed to get 537 miles from

The computer normally says 48-55mpg but when filling up and working mpg out myself it always ends up 45-47mpg.

I don't drive that slow so it aint bad. I wish that damn computer would stop lying though!

Mine gets 50 on the clock every day to work.

Have had a 56 on the motorway.

Wife borrowed it and got 61 to coventry and back (I'm in Ashford, Kent).
