pc to tv

Featured Replies

hi i've just bought a svs to scart lead so i can watch dvd's etc on my tv that i have on my laptop but i can't get it to work, has anyone done this before ?if so how did you do it, i have an acer aspire 1680 that has a svs output port that connects to my ext2 scart socket on my tv

you probably need to turn the output on on the laptop be it in the bios or the video card drivers. i have a laptop from the same series so i'll have a look.

for starters go to the display properties by right clicking on the desktop and going to properties, then witht eh cable plugged in see if you chose to extend your windows desktop onto the second output, i'm ont sure if this only works for the vga port or the s-video aswell.

either that or sorry to ask a silly question but are you going to the right AV channel on your tv?

just had a little look, naff all in the bios so its either the extend windows thing, a knackered cable or the TV's set wrong :)

been into my ati graphics card setting and tv output is there ,but not active i.e the help info says i just click on tv and hey presto ,but the buttons on screen are not lit up green like it says they should be

have you tried it whilst the cable is plugged in? it could be that simple.

IIRC, ATI drivers are notorious for refusing to show a monitor if they don't pick up a 75ohm termination at power up.

In other words, you need to have your cable plugged into the TV when you turn the laptop on to "enable" the TV button in the display properties.

I have an ATI card in my pc and have managed to connect the tv i have next to the pc up, all ive used is the serial out, converted to the yellow video pin (like on the cable for the ps2, camcorder etc). This is then just connected to the side of the tv. I enable/disable the connection by using the properties tab of the desktop, click extend to second screen, and that was all there was to it. I have never had any issues with going to TV mode if the cable wasnt attached on start-up, just have to enable the screen again. If the tv is on in my case it automatically changes channel to the pc display, (this is really annoying if you are tryin to watch something whilst booting the pc cause it keeps changeing channels itself.

Hope that helps a bit.

BTW I have a desktop, with a ATI Radion card, fairly basic but does the job.

I have suffered exactly the same issue with my old ati card it worked for ages and then tried it one day and it wouldnt work, tried everything but in the end gave up and put it down to a broken card.

not that this post adds any value/help in resolving your problem, come to think of it i just wasted a minute writing a load of drivvle

sorry
