Hi all

Just saying hello

I took the plunge yesterday and p/x d my beloved V6 Mondeo for a 05 plate Black Fabia vRS. Am picking her up on Friday and cant wait. Heres to some fun filled hours, tearing up the Derbyshire countryside in my new turbo diesel beast!

Will post further when i have some opinions!:)

Hi Edd. I'll bet you'll not miss the hole in your pocket that the Mondeo would be ripping!

Welcome.

Hello & Welcome :wavey:

Thanks guys,

Re the hole in the pocket, its actually run on a company allowance/fuel card, so the saving wont be as great as a private user. But a tax saving nonetheless and the purchase is part of a long term plan, i hope to be a mature student for a few years, so its the ideal car to buy now. I did have an Audi A3 Tdi (100 bhp) for a year, so have some experience of the PD lump. But the Mondeo is an auto, so may be some embarrasing `forget the clutch` moments.

Anyway, what a great site, hopefully will prove to be a very useful/fun membership.

I did some digging on the history of the Skoda marque on Wikipedia. Makes for interesting reading if anyone hasnt....

Cheers

Edd :)

Maybe not as many as you'd think though; my Octy will pick up from idle or thereabouts in any gear, and the Furbie vRS has more torque and less weight.

Had it 2 weeks now (bit of an argument with the dealer over payments delayed picking it up)

Have never enjoyed owning a car this much.

Rock solid engineering, bags of power, lush to drive - best thing i ever did.

Am thinking about a 170bhp conversion. That will be after i fix the only thing i dont like about it - the lack of centre armrest.

If you had told me 10 years ago that i would be this enthusiastic about owning a Skoda, i would have laughed my head off. Now im just laughing at the mugs who would choose to drive something vastly inferior to this (and most cars in the class are, IMO)
