Is the Haynes Manual misleading?

Featured Replies

Like many, I eagerly awaited the release of the Haynes Manual for the Fabia with a view to learning more about the vRS mechanically and guiding me through any simple non-warranty jobs.

Again, like a few people on Briskoda, one of my foglamps has been cracked and I wanted to replace it without the hassle of going to a dealer. However, the Haynes Manual states "move the clip and then release the (foglamp) surround to the left or right depending on side. Unfortunately I cannot see a clip of any kind on either side, there is a tree-pronged assembly visible through the lefthand surround so:

i) is this the said clip?

ii) is the Haynes Manual misleading or

iii) am I being a bit thick?

Any guidance would be welcomed as the low tone horn has recently given up the will to live and I'd like to have a look at that too (as it is tantalisingly visible behind the lefthand foglamp surround)

Thank you

the fog lamp surround has to come off to access behind the lamp unit , but ideally the front bumper needs to be removed to get the fog lamp out , it can be/and has been done with the bumper still fitted but it is a pain in the ar5e apparently

there are a lot of misleading things in the haynes manual i'm afraid

Thanks for the info.

I don't fancy the idea of removing the bumper (dropping, scratching etc) but I just can't work out the clip part on the surround removal.

Me too:O

I've glanced through my father's haynes for his fabia and it doesn't state anything about the vRS. I know the most things are the same but has anyone heard if Haynes are doing a vRS version?

TBH I think it's fine, just a little open to interpretation for the VRS model as there obviously are differences not directly covered.

I have seen a lot worse come from haynes I can assure you, you just need to keep your wits abou you.
