VAG-COM newbie questions

Featured Replies

I've just bought a cable off ebay for

1) Where is the OBD port on the Fabia ??

2) Which version of VAG-COM should I download for a USB cable?

Ask the manufacturer/seller of the interface hardware you are going to buy, but most likely it's one of these...

3) What can I expect to be able to do with this software?

4) Do I need to register the software?

Shiiiit, is THAT where it is?

I've been looking all over the place for the past 2 weeks!

Thanks chaps

Buy a genuine cable, use the latest software and support the developers of this tool!

You know it makes sense...

Otherwise, insist that your eBay vendor supports you - after all, he/she took your money and not Ross-Tech.

OK, I managed to get the USB cable recognised and by forcing 'dumb' mode I managed to perform a test which came back ok.

I can test for faults in some modules; engine, electrics, abs but when I try other functions it states I need to register. I am running software 4.09.

Is this correct? I was under the impression that some versions of this software were free to use, does this apply to 4.09 ?

Finally, before I decide whether to cough up and pay the fee, will this software work ok on our PD130 Golf also?

The software will be fine, the weakpoint is often the cable but I see no reason for it not to work if you have it working on the other car.
