Fabia vRS non franchise p/ex

Featured Replies

I know second hand values still seem exceptional,but....anyone tried to trade one in with a non skoda dealer or even a general ragamuffin garage?

I know everyone has access to glasses etc.Just wondering if they are well known enough through the motor trade or whether anyone has received joke offers on trade in?

Looking to p/ex against a second hand V70 so will have to deal with either volvo dealer or general garage stocking allsorts.

Thanks.Just want to ready myself!

I traded in my 53 plate vrs for a fiesta st at the ford dealers, i got £6500 for mine with 25000 miles on the clock. This was the about £100 more than the"cap" value at the time, was happy with that i only owed £6000 on the car and i got about £3000 of the list price for the st.

Just traded mine in at a Ford garage. Got £8650 for it. (05 reg, 24k, immaculate, options)

I tried to trade mine in at the Fiat dealer... he got glasses guide out with me, and looked up the value , but my miles were so high it was worth £2000 less than I owed on it! BUT, seeing as I had paid more than half of my finance deal, I simply opted for volentary termination, and black horse came and took the car away to an auction :) VT is great, they had to take the hit on the trade in value not me! and it doesn't effect your credit rating... black horse gave me the finance for the new car :)

I bought mine in February from a "general ragamuffin garage" and the guy said he'd never seen one before, and was surprised when I informed him it was the VAG 130bhp engine! Hence I think it was priced accoding to the book, but not the actual going rate for screen price which seems higher!

The Volvo dealer may well phone up the local Skoda dealer to get an underwrite on it, which is basically a promise to pay an agreed value for it based on the Volvo dealers accurate description of the car. Unless of course they fancy retailing it themselves. Either way they will have a figure to help work out a deal.

Seems like a lot of you are selling up great news for the 2nd hand market.

Note why are so many changing for petrols... has the reality of lack of top end power finally come home to roost & the fact that as Diesel is 5%+ more expensive to buy in the first place + petrols are not that much less economical & the higher purchase price of a diesel means it takes such a long period of time to reap the rewards of the economy that petrol is the logical option these days?

Or is it that as prices are dropping & it appears that the vast majority are being tuned is turning people off it i.e. just like those who bought a std Saxo VTS but got rid when every chva and his dog started messing with a fine std car.

Not really a thread about reasons for sale:rolleyes: ;) reality is,just need a big estate car.Otherwise the little Fabia vRS has been brilliant in every way.

Its just a thread about whether other dealers etc play ball or look down their nose at it.

Cheers Fordfan.Didn't think about that. From the other quotes, seems like it carries some respect and proper prices are given in p/ex

How about considering a VW Passat SE TDI130 Highline these can be picked up from £3k same engine as the vRS huge space and the spec is massively above the Fabia. They also look really smart.

I'd consider one this way you pay off your finance and if you dont have £3k spare your new finance will be half what you currently owe + as the price is much lower to begin with there is much less to lose.

I fotget what the 16" Alloys are called on the Passat but they really do fill the arches and look the business. Also these cars wear the milage very well and most have Mway miles so the 120k miles are really bargins but the snobs refuse to consider cars beyond 60k

the only reason i decided to change the vrs was that it was coming up on 4 years old and i would need to do the timing belt, water pump and a major service as well needing new tyres and brakes, i didnt see the point of spending that money as i was planning to change when the car was 5 years old. So i got rid of it will it was still getting decent money. Do miss the fuel economy though was getting about 40 mpg with the vrs and only getting 28mpg with the st.

But wouldnt that lot cost you less than £600? Im guessing that you bought the ST new? even if not you will have lost £ due to depreciation and really you may have been better off/no different in having those parts changed. You'd than have a car that part wise was like new again and be winning due to the MPG lower depreciation (due to lower value) and would be better off due to less loss of interest on the cash youd have in the bank or less interest youd be paying on the loan.

Ive no idea what age you are but the youth of today i.e. under 30's & more so under 25's waste a fortune on cars then they complain that they dont have any deposit for a house... I wonder why.

i see your point, but i just wanted to change as i was getting bored with the fabia, already have my own house and could afford to change and i got a good deal on the st and i like the way it drives. I fully intend to keep this one for the full 5 years till its paid then change again so the depreciation wont be a problem as it will be worth something and i wont owe anything on the car.

On a different note it is interesting that the Std Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo which has a 5 cylinder 2.0ltr engine first developed back in 1995 produced 220bhp and 230lbf yet the 2005/2006 developer ST engine needs 2.5ltrs to produce similar figs.

Why this is the case is very odd to me - clearly the lower the capacity the engine the more efficient it will be (in most circumstances) why have the trade not moved on in that time?

I guess it must all come down to development cost and as Volvo had this engine already only a slight tune was required to create the ST rather than a complete new engine from scratch.

I do see your point about getting bored with cars but IMOH paying off more on your mortgage for the remaining 2 years to take the vRS to 5 years then change to something else /maybe buy a 2 year old ST then your overall debt would be reduced significantly.
