Rear Tyre Wear

Featured Replies

Both my rear tyres are wearing on the outer edges. 5mm tread on the inner 2mm on the outer.I have done 21000 miles. Is this a problem with camber adjustment ? Is it possible to for the dealer to adjust under warranty and should the warranty cover premature tyre wear? . I am driving a 1.9 TDI - DSG. 05 elegance hatchback.

What tyre size, make and pressures are you using?

You should get he adjustment done FOC but I doubt the tyres will be covered.

Thanks for that stu ,I will take it back to the dealer when I have worn the outer tread to the limit.

Is it too late to rescue some life out of them then??

Yes I think so, The outer groove is nearly down to the wear bar (1.6mm ?)

The change to the camber listed is to reduce the negative camber, this was to correct wear to the inner edge of the tyre. Making this change to a vehicle with excess wear on the outer edge will further increase wear to the outer edge.

Very true - I was more intimating that it was known that the current camber settings were not optimal.
